WHAT'S THE SCIENCE DAY? (DIA C DA CIÊNCIA)

An extension program project of universities, technological centers and institutes that develop research to move and inform the population that, besides training qualified human resources, these institutions are responsible for the production of approximately 90% of Brazilian scientific knowledge.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN?

On OCTOBER 25, Wednesday of the National Week of Science and Technology, higher education institutions will develop activities in schools, museums, public spaces, their own and external institutional spaces, to show Brazilian society the knowledge produced by them and how this knowledge changes people's lives.

WHY IS SCIENCE DAY IMPORTANT?

Brazilian higher education institutions develop few institutional programs for scientific dissemination, which, on the other hand, aims to democratize access to scientific knowledge. This process of science popularization seeks to include citizens in debate on specialized topics that may impact their lives and work. In the country as a whole, scientific dissemination through the media and other instruments is still inefficient.

The survival of free and quality public education model and the system of public funding CT&I maintenance, as we know it, is strongly threatened, so society's awareness and support will be decisive for this model maintaining.

WHAT'S THE EXPECTED RESULT?

It's expected to carry out a huge movement of science dissemination that's produced in higher education and research institutions throughout the country and besides boosting up, also occupy the spaces of national media, achieving international projection.

It seeks essentially to move and inform society about the knowledge generated by higher education and research institutions in the country.
