Menu: Structure, formation of biomolecules: chemical bonds and functions, molecular interactions, kinetics and thermodynamics of biological reactions; research methods of biomolecular structures: instrumental techniques applied to structural analysis; relationship structure and function of biological molecules: biological processes involved in cell maintenance, mechanisms involved in the etiology and pathophysiology of infectious, parasitic and inflammatory diseases, fundamentals and application of diagnostic and therapeutic methods, new materials applied to health.

Ementa: Fundamentals of protein structure and function prediction; Visualization and analysis programs of biomolecular systems. Methods: Comparative modeling; Molecular mechanics for macromolecules; Molecular force field; Structure minimization algorithms; Molecular dynamics; Monte Carlo Method; Molecular anchorage.

Cardiovascular Pharmacology


Time Load: 48 hours (3 credits)

Time: 07:30am to 11:10am (Wednesday)

Menu: Physiological basis of the cardiovascular system and regulation of blood pressure. Functional bases for the use of drugs that interfere with the cardiovascular system. Pharmacological interpretation of the effect of drugs (concentration-effect curves, EC50, pD2, Emax). Vascular smooth muscle and importance of calcium in the excitation-contraction process. Endothelium and modulation of vascular tone. Effects of sympathomimetic and sympatholytic drugs, nitric oxide synthase and Renin Angiotensin Aldosterone System inhibitors on blood pressure and vascular tone control.
